VARIOUS (STEVE LAWLER)
'LIGHTS OUT VOL. 2'
GLOBAL UNDERGROUND
2LP/2CD
(OCTOBER 2003)
Steve Lawler returns to Global Underground to deliver the
second instalment of his infamous ‘Lights Out’ series.
The King Of Space has plucked some of the gems that have been working the
coolest dance floors across the world. Tried and tested each Sunday at Space
Steve is continually acquiring more ardent fans seduced by his exuberance,
energy, technical brilliance and sparkle that come from his innate love of
the music. A clubber at heart Steve is the consummate pro and this CD is a
taste of the experience.
In classic
Lawler style ‘drums’ are the opener for CD1 setting a driving pace so
characteristic of Steve’s sound. The beat oozes its way into the sexy sounds
of Diamond Dogs feat. Mary Tanning ‘Nothing Else’, a full on sexy dance
floor filler that precedes the chunky funky ‘Moving On’ from Danusha and
Andrea Doria’s Mix of the awesome club smash ‘Follow This Beat’ from Paul
Johnson. Riddled with achingly cool house monsters this illustrates why
Lawler is one of the UK’s most in demand DJs. Polekat’s ‘Dancing Queen’
keeps the tempo racing and ensures this is one CD that won’t be leaving the
car stereo for months.
CD2
showcases the now legendary intro that Steve began a very memorable Harlem
Night’s set with in February this year. His personalised ‘Lights Out Intro
featuring Underworld’ had many screaming for more before he’d even put a
needle to a record. Steve has become renowned for adding his own personal
touches to tracks and making them unique… much like his sets. DJ Pierre Vs
David Morales heats things up even more. ‘Make It Hot’ is the perfect ‘get
the girls on the dancefloor’ Lawler-esque stomper. Classics such as Alcatraz
‘Give Me Love’ combined with the electro edged Eric Kaufmann Vs Jet ‘My
Girlfriend Is a Robot’ ensure there is something for everyone with a heart
beat. He ends the journey on an exclusive high with his own ‘nip and tuck
edit’ of Jaydee’s ‘Plastic Dreams’, one of the most emotive and memorable
dance tracks of all time – bliss!
‘Lights Out 2’ will have you captured and locked into the Lawler place… with
a spattering of heavy bass lines, hooky vocals and sexy dance floor antics
this is everything you would expect from the coolest man in house.
