Steve Lawler, one of the busiest DJs around, will release the third in his ‘Lights Out’ compilation series.
If you’re after a quality collection of dirty, dark, twisted house, then look no further than ‘Lights Out 3’ - the latest in Steve Lawler’s successful compilation series.
It’s out on Global Underground, and there will also be a special edition with a third disc featuring a mix of tracks from Steve’s own labels - Harlem Records, Harlem Trax and Harlem Electric.
With the launch of his weekly “Viva” night at “Space” in Ibiza, producing his own belter ‘That Sound’, his big remixes of the Funky Green Dogs ‘Reach For Me’ and the title track ‘Conjure’ from the movie "Skeleton Key", Mr. Lawler has certainly been getting down to business this year.
So after the success of ‘Lights Out Vol. 1’ and ‘Vol. 2’, how does number three compare? ‘Lights Out 1’ was very dark, ‘Lights Out 2’ was funky and chunky, and ‘Lights Out 3’, well… unlike some DJ compilations out there, these are all songs that Steve Lawler really loves right now. Basically, it’s very representative of what he's playing. A sound to have you – as much as him – on the move, in other words. Fresh sounds and new ideas born of steely determination and heartfelt creativity.
This is the sound of Steve Lawler in 2005 – the lights are out, the dark drums are on.
