It's all about the beats the funk and the soul. Throw in a dash of
lounge-style dressing, add some soulful sisters and some brothers who wail
and damn if you haven't got Skeewiff right there!
Skeewiff is the lovechild of producers Alex Rizzo and Elliot Ireland. Formed
in the late 90's they were signed to the FSUK label by Ministry of Sound (RIP).
Alex Rizzo is the funkiest white man on the planet. Grounded in blues, soul,
jazz and funk he lives in a smoky studio beneath London's Holloway Rd and
turns out the fattest breaks you can get without blowing your speakers. Born
in London to Italian parents he started producing music in the early 90's
releasing his first tunes on the legendary Guerilla label.
Elliot Ireland was born in Australia and brought up in Belgium but don't
hold that against him as it is his pervasive European charm that infuses the
Skeewiff sound with their loungecore leanings. Widely traveled and deeply
learned he threw away his career as one of the finest lawyers Harvard had
ever seen to hibernate in a studio on the Holloway Rd writing funky ass
tunes to beat away the boredom that he and Alex felt was stagnating the rest
of the dance scene.
‘Cruise
Control’ is the long awaited second album from Skeewiff, purveyors of the
funkiest breaks known to man! Highlights include the Charlise vocalled ‘Nitty-Gritty’,
and ‘Shake What Your Mama Gave Ya’ which has been snapped up by Konami for
one of their games. Loungecore, humour and even a touch of R&B flava all
complement the trademark funk.
